Action Research: The benefits of guided meditation in music lessons

During the academic year 2014-2015, I carried out an action research project exploring the benefits of guided meditation at the beginning of music lessons in a school in South East London. As predicted, the results clearly demonstrated that meditation had a positive effect on the student – particularly in terms of retention and co-operation. Students feedback was overwhelmingly positive with a high percentage of students stating they believed their work and behaviour had improved since meditation was introduced.
